Interview with Joan Pelly: "I Didn't Know the Right Questions to Ask"

~*~ Joan first told her Story to Katie Couric and then to me.  This Video Report speaks for itself. She hopes that parents will be educated ~ she wants to make a difference. "No game is as important as your future" Joan Pelly

Do you think the Media has gone overboard reporting concussions in youth sports, as well as the constant updates on Brain Injuries and CTE? What is CTE? It's: chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Currently, it can only be diagnosed by examination of the brain tissue after death. CTE first came to light in 2002, when *Dr. Bennet Omalu, a Forensic Neuropathologist, performed the autopsy on former Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Football HOF center Mike Webster and named CTE. Mike was 50 and played in the NFL from 1974 to 1990.

2006: Pittsburgh, PA - Dr. Omalu was also there for Eric Pelly

He died from CTE

He was 18 years old

*I had the opportunity to meet/have dinner with Dr. Omalu while I was in L.A. (April 5, 2014) covering the Brain Injury Think Tank.
